The Farm Story
Magarissa Riripa #2 is a community lot from smallholder farms around Riripa in Nensebo, West Arsi, Oromia. The farms sit at 1,900-2,100 metres near the Bale Mountain forest, where coffee grows in a densely shaded landscape. Ripe cherries are delivered to Haji Betro Wet Mill, which works with around 742 smallholder farms. At the station, cherries are sorted and pulped; the seeds ferment fully submerged for 36-48 hours, are washed clean and then dry on raised beds for 15-20 days. This careful washed process preserves clarity and keeps the region's local heirloom and landrace character recognisable in the cup.
